The 「马面裙」 (ma mian qun), or “horse face” skirt, is an iconic hanfu garment. Worn during the Ming and Qing dynasties, this skirt is recognizable by its pleated side panels and its two smooth front and back panels that intersect like the “faces” of a horse.
